Requirements

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of tooling design experience.
  • 10 years of experience using 3D modeling CAD software.
  • Siemens NX / Teamcenter Experience.
  • Experience working with CAD assemblies.
  • Good understanding of Engineering Drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Strong analytical skills using appropriate logic and reasoning for design solutions.
  • Experience conducting design reviews.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong creativity and innovation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft O365 suite.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) experience.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (6s, etc.).
  • Experience with composite materials.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new tools, tooling, gauging, and other tooling aids to support production operations.
  • Create designs and drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Analyze tooling performance and adjust designs accordingly to improve performance.
  • Design tooling for CNC machining, turning, and additive manufacturing methods.
  • Review technical manufacturing specifications to determine tooling requirements.
  • Design for ergonomics when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop design solutions for production support.
  • Evaluate tooling/gauge/aid performance to determine for-use worthiness.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot process issues.
  • Provide technical support to operations.
  • Consult with outside engineering entities when required to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate multiple design projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external vendors during tooling fabrication.
  • Analyze process data in support of continuous improvement.
