About The Position

The Assembly & Integration Focus Factory of L3Harris Space and Mission Systems located in Rochester, New York, is looking for an experienced Tool Maker to join the Composite Structures team. Candidate must possess a machining and fabrication background and ability to work within tight tolerance specifications. Scope is focused on the timely execution of assigned tasks as an individual contributor and function well within a team environment. This role involves working directly with engineers on the design, development and fabrication of new and existing products to optimize design for manufacturability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience; Or, 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 2 to 4 years of prior related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to work overtime, shift work, weekends, holidays, and some travel
  • Skilled Journeyman's Certification
  • Experience with G-Code and G-Code Macro's for machine programming
  • Experience with CNC programming utilizing Mastercam
  • Experience with Prototrak programming and operation
  • Experience working with composite materials
  • Experience working in a mechanical fabrication discipline
  • Experience with MIG/TIG welding
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication

Responsibilities

  • Read engineering drawings/blueprints/schematics and detailed work instructions
  • Maintain accurate records and manufacturing documentation
  • Must be mechanically inclined with ability to work with very fragile and precise assemblies
  • Speak clearly and concisely and present ideas effectively to individuals or groups
  • Identify problems and suggest solutions
  • Understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and proper labor charging practices
  • Perform as an individual contributor as well as within a team environment
  • Demonstrate appropriate computer knowledge
  • Proficiently operating mills, surface grinder, and lathe
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
