About The Position

The Tool Maker II position is responsible for moderately complex building and modifying tools, jigs, molds and fixtures using precision bench and machining operations. This role requires working with machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments, programming, setting up, and operating machine tools, and reading and interpreting blueprints to fabricate precision fixtures, assembly components, and gages for production machines and inspection. The position also involves determining and adjusting machine feeds and speeds, understanding the machinability of metals and heat treating processes, and performing basic metrology checks. Collaboration with engineering on designs and providing feedback is also part of the role, along with basic computer skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) to five (5) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Works with machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments using a good mechanical aptitude
  • Programs, sets-up, and operates machine tools to perform specific operations independently. (HURCO, PROTOTRAK, SURFACE GRINDERS, MANUAL BRIDGEPORTS AND LATHES)
  • Reads and interprets blueprints to fabricate moderately tight precision fixtures, assembly components and gages for production machines and inspection.
  • Determines, sets and adjusts feeds, speeds and stops on all machines in the facility within operation capability to maintain specified tolerances.
  • Be familiar with temperature changes caused by machine operations and the use of proper coolants and oils.
  • Have moderate knowledge of the machinability of metals and procedures for proper material removal.
  • Have the basic metrology knowledge to be able to check fixtures and assemblies to ensure that dimensions are being maintained before releasing to the floor.
  • Understand heat treating of air hardening materials such as A2 steel
  • Work with engineering on designs and give feed back when necessary
  • Basic knowledge of computers (Excel, solidedge, outlook)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
