About The Position

At Milwaukee Tool, the Tool & Die Maker works on stamping dies and plastic injection molds, using tool and die making skills to improve existing manufacturing processes and support new products. The position interacts with operations, engineering, and process technicians to construct, alter, fit, and repair tooling used in stamping and plastic molding. The role also supports production readiness, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Expert-level experience troubleshooting tooling.
• Five years of experience with stamping and injection molding die repair, engineering changes, and new builds.
• Journeyman experience in stamping and forming, as well as injection mold tooling.
• Ability to communicate technical status to engineering or operations teams.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with aluminum stamping and machining.
• Experience with SolidWorks or NX.
• Experience with GibbsCAM CAM or NX CAM.

Responsibilities

• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts against specifications using measuring instruments.
• Study blueprints, sketches, and models to repair or fabricate tools and dies.
• Troubleshoot production and prototype tooling.
• Set up and operate conventional or CNC machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, as well as wire EDM.
• Inspect tooling for production readiness.
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine tools and hand tools.
• Conduct tryouts with completed tools or dies, confirm parts meet specifications, and make adjustments as needed.
• Record tooling work and repair history in an electronic maintenance system.
• Perform and develop preventive maintenance systems for plastic molds and stamping dies.
• Build and modify spare parts and provide accurate repair time estimates.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and independently implement projects to optimize production processes.
• Communicate technical status to engineering or operations teams.
