About The Position

The Die Maker is tasked with utilizing various equipment, including surface grinders, CNC machines, and mills, to produce high-quality tooling that aligns with part drawings. This role requires precision in creating angles and radii on tooling to manufacture tight-tolerance parts while adhering to established quality and production standards.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to execute work accurately and comprehensively.
  • Strong organizational skills and systematic approach to tasks.
  • Completion of an accredited state or federally approved apprenticeship program, along with a journeyman card.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D prints or 3D CAD designs and translate concepts into final products using raw materials.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Versatile machining skills, including experience with mills, lathes, drill presses, and grinders, as well as hand working techniques.
  • Possession of personal die making and machinist tools.
  • Demonstrated skills in building and trying out progressive dies.
  • A reliable team player who is adaptable and responds positively to changing directions.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks effectively under pressure.
  • Capable of making critical decisions based on company procedures (refer to employee handbook).
  • Ability to resolve issues or take actions to reach set goals.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English is required.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and reach as necessary.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and walk throughout the day.
  • Capability to walk on level surfaces for extended periods.
  • Should maintain continuous mental and visual focus while operating computers.
  • Able to lift machine components weighing up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain tooling and sensor equipment in optimal condition.
  • Implement tooling enhancements as requested by support departments.
  • Ensure that all tooling is safe for production prior to leaving the Tool Room.
  • Adhere to safety procedures, effectively utilize equipment, and report unsafe conditions.
  • Identify and resolve issues promptly, gather and analyze information, and create effective alternative solutions.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance quality, demonstrating meticulous accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machine tools, fixtures, dies, and die components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and production specifications with ease.
  • Train team members on the technical responsibilities and duties associated with their roles.
