About The Position

Dienamic Tooling Systems (DTS) is looking to add a 2nd shift Tool and Die Maker to their team! The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for coordinating all departments required to produce a die to the specifications/designs provided in a manner consistent with their training - this includes tasks such as: analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools by performing the following Essential Functions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Diemaker Journeyman Status or Equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the die from cradle to customer. Die maker is responsible for every aspect of the tool.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
  • File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
  • Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Lead die construction and try out.
  • Follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Maintain appropriate tools and keep current on tool calibration.
