About The Position

This is a 1st shift Tool & Die Apprentice position that will report to the 2nd shift once the program is completed. The role involves building and repairing tools and dies, operating machinery safely, troubleshooting issues, and supporting production operations. The apprentice will also interface with customers, participate in problem-solving teams, and support various company programs.

Requirements

  • Ability to build tool and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.
  • Proficiency in operating tool room machinery safely.
  • Skill in performing tool and die repairs on progressive dies, manually operated dies, and tooling.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot dies and make corrections.
  • Experience working from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references.
  • Ability to support try out and prepare for production runs.
  • Capability to support press room operations, including serving die sets and troubleshooting dies.
  • Understanding of using SPC data for die adjustments.
  • Ability to interface with internal and external customers.
  • Willingness to participate on problem solving teams.
  • Commitment to supporting SPECS, TQM, MPS, and safety programs.
  • Practice of good housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build tool and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.
  • Operate tool room machinery in a safe manner during build process.
  • Perform tool and die repairs on progressive dies, manually operated dies, and tooling.
  • Diagnose and trouble shoot dies in the bench and make corrections.
  • Work from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references to make corrections as required to produce quality parts.
  • Support try out and make ready to run production after die steel or tool installations.
  • Support press room operations by serving die sets, trouble shoot dies and make corrections when possible with die in the press, and through using SPC data to determine dimensional integrity for die adjustments and documents.
  • Interface with both internal and external customers, participate on problem solving teams in production, and handle customer and supplier concerns.
  • Support SPECS, TQM, MPS, and safety programs.
  • Practice good housekeeping standards.
