About The Position

The 1st shift Tool & Die Apprentice will report to the 2nd shift when the program is completed. This role involves building and repairing tools and dies, operating machinery, and troubleshooting issues to ensure quality parts and support production operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to build tool and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.
  • Proficiency in operating tool room machinery safely.
  • Experience in performing tool and die repairs on progressive dies and manually operated dies.
  • Skill in diagnosing and troubleshooting dies.
  • Ability to work from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references.
  • Capability to support try out and prepare for production.
  • Understanding of SPC data for die adjustments.
  • Customer and supplier interaction skills.
  • Participation in problem-solving teams.
  • Knowledge of SPECS, TQM, MPS, and safety programs.
  • Commitment to good housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build tool and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.
  • Operate tool room machinery in a safe manner during build process.
  • Perform tool and die repairs on progressive dies and manually operated dies.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot dies, making corrections as needed.
  • Work from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references to make corrections for quality parts.
  • Support try out and prepare for production after die steel or tool installations.
  • Support press room operations by serving die sets, troubleshooting dies, and making corrections.
  • Use SPC data to determine dimensional integrity for die adjustments and documentation.
  • Interface with internal and external customers.
  • Participate on problem-solving teams in production.
  • Handle customer and supplier concerns.
  • Support SPECS, TQM, MPS, and safety programs.
  • Practice good housekeeping standards.
