About The Position

South Louisiana Community College is seeking a dedicated Title IX and Power-Based Violence Coordinator to serve as the primary point of contact for all Title IX and Power Based Violence reports. This role is crucial for developing, implementing, and monitoring the college's compliance program for Title IX and Title VII's prohibition of discrimination based on sex. The coordinator will oversee the centralized review, safety and risk assessment, investigation, and resolution of reports concerning sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and gender-based discrimination. This position also involves preparing an annual report, managing daily case management operations, conducting initial outreach to complainants, determining appropriate next steps for resolution, assigning and coordinating investigators, maintaining secure records, ensuring compliance with timelines and procedural standards, monitoring regulatory changes, and preparing regular reports on case activity and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: human resources, student affairs, counseling, social work, law enforcement, education, administration, compliance or related field.
• Experience handling sensitive, confidential matters with discretion.
• Experience working with varying populations in a professional setting.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and practices specific to the applicable compliance specialty.
• Working knowledge of federal civil rights law including Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 or possess the ability to quickly learn applicable regulations.
• Ability to comply with federal Title IX policies and related federal and state statutory and regulatory requirements regarding sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and gender- based discrimination.
• Ability to learn current and emerging legislation, issues, and trends as appropriate to the position.
• Ability to conduct fair, impartial and thorough intake interviews and investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports and communicate complex policy information to varied audiences, which includes the ability to write clear reports and communicate complex policy information to all parties.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in sensitive situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments. (e.g. HR, legal counsel, student services, and campus security)

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all Title IX and Power Based Violence reports, ensuring timely intake and response.
• Develops, implements and monitors the college's compliance program for Title IX and Title VII’s prohibition of discrimination based on sex.
• Oversees the college's centralized review, safety and risk assessment, investigation and resolution of reports of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination and addresses any patterns or systemic problems that arise during the review of such complaints.
• Prepares and publishes an annual report summarizing the number, nature, and disposition of reports of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination and describing the college's education and prevention activities related thereto.
• Oversee daily case management operations, including tracking reports, timelines, and documentation.
• Conduct initial outreach to complainants, including the offer and coordination of supportive measures.
• Determine appropriate next steps, including informal resolution or formal grievance processes.
• Assign and coordinate investigators, hearing officers, and external partners as needed.
• Maintain accurate and secure records within the institution’s case management system.
• Ensure compliance with required timelines and procedural standards.
• Monitor changes in federal and state regulations and implement updates to institutional practices.
• Prepare regular reports related to case activity, compliance, and institutional risk.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in all Title IX and Power Based Violence matters.
• Reviews proposed sanctions for sexual misconduct before they are imposed to ensure that they are reasonably calculated to stop the sexual misconduct and prevent its recurrence.
• Reviews, updates and maintains university policies and procedures for providing prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints of conduct that violates the college's prohibition of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and gender-based discrimination.
• Reviews for compliance all college, department and unit-level policies, procedures, guidelines, rules, handbooks and other publications that provide information regarding sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and gender-based discrimination on all SoLAcc campuses.
• Ensure a fair, impartial, and unbiased process for all parties involved.
• Apply a trauma-informed approach in all interactions.
• Avoid conflicts of interest and ensure appropriate separation of roles within the grievance process.
• Adhere to all federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
• Exercise sound judgment in high-risk and sensitive situations.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, including not serving in roles that create conflicts (e.g., investigator or decision-maker when prohibited).
• Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and safety across the institution.
• Work directly with the Assistant Vice Chancellor on compliance oversight and institutional risk management.
• Coordinate with Student Conduct, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, and Campus Safety and Security to ensure aligned response efforts.
• Oversee coordination of supportive measures in collaboration with appropriate campus offices.
• Engage with the CARE/BIT team as appropriate for students impacted by PBV.
• Coordinate with external partners and vendors for investigative services, training, and consultation as needed.
• Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and students regarding Title IX policies, procedures, and rights.
• Provide guidance to Deputy Coordinators and campus partners involved in the Title IX process.
• Develop, implement, and oversee campus-wide education and prevention programs related to Sexual harassment and misconduct, dating and domestic violence, stalking and consent and pregnancy and parenting protections.
• Coordinate and deliver required training for Students, Faculty and staff, and Responsible employees.
• Develop and manage awareness campaigns and initiatives, including National awareness months and campus programming and outreach.
• Oversee the development, review, and implementation of Title IX policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state mandates, including Title IX and related regulations.
• Support institutional reporting requirements, including annual and compliance reports.
• Maintain and update Title IX website content, materials, and resources.
• Lead campus climate initiatives related to safety and prevention.
