About The Position

Gateway Regional School District is seeking a DESE-licensed educator to support district students enrolled at St. Mary’s School in Westfield, Massachusetts through after-school tutoring. The tutor will work with a very small group of 1–3 students and provide reading and/or math support based on their academic needs.

Tutoring will take place at St. Mary’s in 45-minute sessions from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m., twice a week, from November through January, for a total of 20 sessions; exact dates are to be determined. All work must occur outside the tutor’s regular contractual workday. The stipend is $1,962.72, contingent on completing the tutoring and planning sessions, periodic meetings, and required documentation. Submitting a letter of interest does not guarantee an assignment; tutors will be selected based on fit with students’ academic needs.

Requirements

• DESE-licensed educator.
• Complete 20 tutoring sessions and 20 planning-time sessions.
• Participate in periodic meetings with GRSD staff.
• Complete required documentation.

Responsibilities

• Tutor a group of 1–3 students in reading and/or math according to their academic needs.
• Provide 20 tutoring sessions, each lasting 45 minutes, twice a week from November through January.
• Use data to inform lesson planning and maintain confidentiality.
• Use grade-level content and curriculum resources during tutoring sessions.
• Participate in meetings that support the tutoring work and fulfill program requirements.
• Communicate and collaborate with the St. Mary’s principal to follow school procedures and policies.
• Communicate and collaborate with students’ regular classroom teachers as needed to ensure aligned support.
• Regularly communicate and collaborate with a GRSD district leader to ensure alignment with Title I requirements.
• Complete required documentation by deadlines, including lesson plans, attendance records, and academic progress data from pre- and post-assessments.
