The Title Examiner will be responsible for examining title orders within underwriter guidelines to determine the conditions of the title and insurability. This involves considering the effect of various documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates, and other record documents. The role requires researching respective title plant software, analyzing, and evaluating pertinent record documents for determination of ownership and legal descriptions. The examiner will explain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managers, recognize title defects and formulate curative measures, and assess risks and liabilities that may jeopardize the company, bringing these matters to the attention of management and/or the underwriter. Additionally, the role involves evaluating the risk for issuing a title insurance policy and clearing title objections, preparing accurate title commitments, maintaining production levels, working closely with customers and staff, generating title policies after closing, providing customer service, and performing miscellaneous administrative responsibilities. The position may require overtime and staying current with market trends.
