About The Position

The Title Clerk, also referred to as the Tag & Title Associate, prepares legal vehicle transfer documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles and verifies and makes payoffs on vehicle trade-ins. The role supports used-vehicle purchasing and inventory control, wholesale deal processing, month-end accounting, and annual reviews or audits. The associate is expected to keep current with applicable laws.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous tag and title experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.
• Strong customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience in a dealership position (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare tag and title documents.
• Submit legal transfer documents to the DMV.
• Issue stock numbers and stock in used vehicles purchased.
• Prepare checks to purchase used vehicles.
• Input inventory control information for used cars.
• Prepare and maintain trade-in vehicle jackets.
• Keep name and address files updated on an ongoing basis.
• Process wholesale deals and monitor wholesale receivables.
• Verify payoffs on trade-ins.
• Complete end-of-month accounting reports.
• Assist with annual reviews and audits.
• Keep current with applicable laws.
