About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a Title 1 Teacher at Cleveland Arts & Social Sciences Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. The role is focused on bringing curriculum to life for students and creating a positive classroom environment that prioritizes learning and social-emotional development. Cleveland Arts & Social Sciences Academy is a public charter school serving the Buckeye-Shaker community and surrounding neighborhoods. It offers a hands-on college-preparatory curriculum emphasizing the arts and humanities, small-group learning, educational technology, and specialty classes in a close-knit K–8 school community. The teacher prepares and delivers instruction, differentiates learning to meet student needs, monitors and records student progress, manages classroom behavior, and communicates with families about students’ academic and social-emotional growth. The role also includes collaboration with colleagues and participation in non-instructional activities as needed.
Requirements
- Active, current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports student learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
