About The Position

Titans After School Program Instructors work with a group of up to 25 students (3rd through 8th graders only). Daily tasks consist of student supervision, tutoring, homework assistance, and educational enrichment. Instructors must be committed to being a constant presence during all hours of operation and possess high energy, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain a fun and organized atmosphere. This position is funded through a Grant/Contract, and employment beyond the current funding period is contingent upon continued funding.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Ability to solely manage a classroom of 20-25 3rd through 8th grade students.
  • Understanding behavior management and effective disciplinary techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional interpersonal and partnering relationship skills.
  • Ability to keep track of all curriculum and binders at the site.
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated with team-building skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel) and Google Drive (i.e. Docs, Sheets).
  • Must be flexible, team-oriented, child-focused, and want to make a difference in the lives of students.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Implements all Titans After School Program rules and procedures and displays professionalism at all times.
  • Supports their supervisor by following their directions.
  • Communicates regularly with the Site Coordinator regarding all aspects of the program at the designated site.
  • Follows chain of command when reporting any incidents or concerns at site.
  • Responsible for clocking in/out on the site’s desktop computer, completing electronic timesheets, and approves own hours on TimeClock as scheduled bi-weekly.
  • Attends all weekly staff meetings.
  • Works collaboratively with all staff members.
  • Collects all attendance documents and any other documents needed at the end of programming daily.
  • Provides students with educational enrichment, including positive youth development strategies, recreation, prevention activities, and the ability to teach youth positive life skills.
  • Provides tutoring and homework assistance.
  • Ensures the students receive constant supervision and provides a safe and supported environment at all times.
  • Implements all Titans After School Program curriculum: Buena Park: Let’s Learn!, Meet the Masters, Math Readers, Battle of the Books, STEM, Comic Books. Must also implement any new curriculum that may be introduced during the school year (Training will be provided).
  • Creates and implements an engaging educational curriculum every month upon approval of their direct supervisor.
  • Responsible for any Titans After School Program property such as curriculum materials and electronics that have been given to them or checked out for use.
  • Accurately tracks students’ progress using the programmatic protocol.
  • May be asked to stay past the scheduled time when students are picked up past normal check-out time.
  • Responsible for managing service learners, interns, and volunteers at the site.
  • Responsible for checking their assigned Fullerton email on a weekly basis to ensure all training are up-to-date and completed by their deadline.
  • Creating schedules and lesson plans for grade-specific activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
