Titanium Grinder - Graveyard
About The Position
This role involves working the Graveyard shift Monday through Thursday from 8:00 pm to 6:30 am, with training on day shift Monday through Friday. The primary responsibilities include reviewing inspection paperwork, grinding and blending defect areas on castings, and blending welds to blueprint tolerances. The position requires using various tools and inspection methods to ensure dimensional compliance and identify defects. Additionally, the role may involve providing work direction and training to other grinders, handling hazardous waste, and adhering to all safety regulations.
Requirements
- Experience with grinding and blending defect areas on castings.
- Ability to blend welds to blueprint tolerances.
- Proficiency in reviewing inspection paperwork, sketches, and blueprints.
- Experience using rotary files, burrs, abrasives, or belts for defect removal.
- Skill in blending and reworking repaired areas to specified tolerances.
- Experience with hand-held sandblasters is a plus.
- Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, ultrasonic testing, and similar dimensional inspection devices.
- Experience performing fluorescent penetrant inspection tests.
- Ability to complete logs and records.
- Knowledge of plant and department safety rules.
- Ability to safely operate all equipment and tools.
- Ability to identify and report safety problems.
- Willingness to handle hazardous waste if required.

Responsibilities
- Reviews inspection paperwork, grinds and blends defect areas on castings, and blends welds to blueprint tolerances.
- Reviews x-ray/inspection paperwork, sketches and blueprints to determine grinding requirements.
- Removes surface and blind cavity defects from castings using rotary files, burrs, abrasives or belts to prepare castings for repair.
- Blends and reworks repaired areas to specified tolerances; may use hand-held sandblaster.
- Verifies dimensional compliance using micrometers, calipers, ultrasonic testing and similar types of dimensional inspection devices.
- Performs fluorescent penetrant inspection tests on parts to verify removal of surface and subsurface defects; applies penetrant, lets dry, washes off and inspects for defects.
- Completes logs and records.
- Provides work direction and training to other grinders as assigned.
- Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
- Safely operates all equipment and tools.
- Identifies and reports safety problems.
- May be required to handle hazardous waste.
- Performs other tasks as directed.
