About The Position

We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to join our Tissue Services team as a Procurement Coordinator. The preferred candidate would have a strong anatomy and sterile technique background, with the ability to effectively communicate. This position spends a quarter of its time performing post-mortem tissue recovery. The remainder of the time is spent completing proper documentation and coordinating the recovery process. This position is an on-site position requiring the candidate to reside within 45 minutes of Omaha. The rotating on-call schedule includes 12 shifts, covering nights, weekends, and holidays. Training starts with day shifts and transitions to overnight shifts upon completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree focused on anatomy (i.e., health sciences or nursing) is preferred, or a minimum of four years equivalent training.
  • Relevant experience required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Certified Tissue Banking Specialist Certification (CTBS).
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance with the ability to travel by vehicle.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships and effective communication with both internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency with sterile technique
  • Advanced knowledge of human anatomy
  • Effectively communicate with coroners, funeral homes, families, hospitals, and other internal departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tissue recovery preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and perform surgical recovery of tissues.
  • Gather and accurately assess patient medical records and donor risk assessment to determine suitability.
  • Accurately complete the donor electronic record.
  • Perform case oversight to include charting, delegation of duties, and communication with internal and external partners.
  • Provide ethical and sensitive treatment to each donor.
