About The Position

Geauga Metropolitan Housing Authority in Chardon, OH, is looking for a skilled professional who takes pride in problem-solving and craftsmanship. As a full-time Tier 3 Maintenance Technician, you step into a critical role maintaining safe, high-quality homes across our communities. If you're motivated by variety, responsibility, and purpose-driven work, this opportunity is worth a closer look. You work a steady 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with on-call rotations and overtime opportunities available. As our Tier 3 Maintenance Technician, you address maintenance needs across multiple properties, applying your knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems to solve complex issues the right way, the first time. You manage and prioritize work orders while ensuring every repair meets code, housing authority guidelines, and HUD standards. You routinely inspect buildings and units, spotting concerns early and implementing preventive maintenance strategies that reduce emergencies and keep properties inspection-ready. Throughout the day, you balance hands-on work with quality control, ensuring each unit across our five Geauga County communities-Chardon, Newbury, Middlefield, and Chagrin Falls-remains safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance
  • Advanced skills in at least two trades (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
  • Ability to work throughout Geauga County: Chardon, Newbury, Middlefield, and Chagrin Falls
  • Ability to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public or multi-family housing
  • Familiarity with occupied units, tenant interaction, and turnaround expectations
  • Knowledge of HUD/REAC Inspection Standards
  • Ability to help ensure units and properties stay inspection-ready and compliant
