Augsburg University is committed to helping its students explore their vocation. As a University with a calling, it welcomes the unique gifts that each of its employees brings to its collective work and is committed to supporting its students as they seek to match those gifts with the needs of the University and the larger community. Student employment with Augsburg is more than a job; it is an opportunity for Augsburg students to gain meaningful work experience in a supportive setting that promotes professional growth, personal accountability, teamwork and collaboration, and quality work that lives up to its mission of educating students to be informed citizens, thoughtful stewards, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders. Augsburg’s THRIVE Program, formerly known as EAST (East African Students to Teachers), is for BIPOC students at Augsburg University pursuing a degree in K-12 education. THRIVE aims to support students in all aspects of their higher education experience. The mission is to recruit, engage, and retain student teachers of color through student development, critical mentorship, networking opportunities, and civic engagement activities. The goal is to ensure student teachers of color successfully transition into Augsburg and thrive academically, professionally, and socially. The program strives to empower, celebrate, and support students as they create a solid personal foundation and nurture a sense of belonging.
