About The Position

Thread/form roll operators work under minimal supervision to operate and perform basic setups of thread/form roll machines, including feeding systems on Warren, Waterbury, EWM, Roy, and Hartford platforms. The role requires basic familiarity with thread/form roll tooling, intermediate competencies in print reading and inspection processes, and basic troubleshooting. The stated experience requirement is 1–2 years.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Introductory competence in shop math, including fractions and decimals.
• Basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
• Basic knowledge of machine tools.
• Ability to interpret written instructions on shop travelers.
• Capability to set up and run parts as required.

Nice To Haves

• Some knowledge of comparators and induction heaters.
• GED or high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines, including use of PPE and safe interaction with equipment.
• Identify parts on the shop traveler and confirm that all prior operations have been completed.
• Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel forming bends, beads, knurls, or rolls, or to flatten, temper, or reduce the gauge of material according to shop traveler specifications and operating procedures.
• Adjust machine controls and tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
• Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances.
• Inspect sample work pieces for conformance with specifications using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Follow standard operating procedures to check, test, log in, log out, and thread roll good-quality parts, coordinating with the department supervisor or lead during the process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
