About The Position

Thermo King West is a family-owned group of nine dealerships serving customers in trailer repair, transport refrigeration, and related lines of business. The company describes itself as a growing business that values customer care and its employees. This position is open to all experience levels, and pay depends on experience. Technicians diagnose, maintain, repair, and install transport temperature-control equipment and perform Auxiliary Power Unit installation, repair, and service. Career progression may include Apprentice, Certified, Professional, and Master Technician levels, with specialty certifications such as Bus or Flat-Rate Technician potentially available.

Requirements

Basic understanding of mechanical, transport refrigeration, and/or electrical systems; training may be provided.
Related experience may include diesel engines, heavy equipment repair, light-duty mechanics, or heavy wheel mechanics.
Basic computer skills and knowledge.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a DOT medical card if required.
Ability to meet insurability standards for various dealer vehicles.
Successful completion of all pre-employment screening.
Ability to work overtime as required.
Ability to travel as required for training or to meet customers' needs.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Problem-solving, relationship-building, and effective, proactive communication skills.
Good judgment and decision-making skills, and a desire to learn and continuously improve.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Related vocational or technical training.
Valid EPA 608 Type II and 609 certifications.
A complete set of quality hand tools.
Experience in the industry or a similar field.

Responsibilities

Proactively diagnose transport temperature equipment and perform necessary repairs efficiently and to high-quality standards.
Perform prescribed routine maintenance on transport temperature-control equipment efficiently and to high-quality standards.
Install transport temperature-control equipment according to Thermo King specifications and high-quality standards.
Install, repair, and service Auxiliary Power Units to high-quality standards.
Maintain current knowledge of Thermo King product developments and service bulletins or campaigns.
Follow dealer and Thermo King standards and work procedures.
Maintain the required CERTI-TECH certification level and participate in training required by national Thermo King standards.
Maintain dealer and Thermo King confidentiality.
Maintain good housekeeping and follow safety procedures.
Complete paperwork required by the dealership and Thermo King.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.
