Reefer Technician/Mechanic – Thermo King & Carrier | $40–$45/hr
About The Position
Amerit Fleet Solutions is hiring a Reefer Technician/Mechanic to diagnose, maintain, and repair Thermo King and Carrier trailer refrigeration units in Thornton, Colorado. The role includes work on diesel-powered refrigeration systems, preventive maintenance, air conditioning systems, and trailer repairs. Pay is $40.00–$45.00 per hour based on experience, paid weekly. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A potential new-hire bonus of up to $5,500 is mentioned. The position operates in a mobile, outside, and/or shop environment with exposure to dust, diesel fumes, noise, oils, grease, and other mechanical materials. The work requires safe operation around large vehicles and in varying weather conditions. Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience working on reefer units and trailer refrigeration systems.
- Strong proficiency and working knowledge of diesel-powered reefer units, preventive maintenance, and air conditioning systems.
- EPA Section 608 Certification.
- Experience repairing diesel-engine refrigeration units on heavy-duty trailers.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to own and maintain the personal tools and toolbox required for the role.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Ability and willingness to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Eligibility to pass standard pre-employment screenings, including a drug screen and DOT physical if required.
- Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and extended sitting; lift heavy objects; access tight or confined spaces; use hands to grasp, reach, handle, and operate tools and equipment; work at heights using ladders or elevated platforms; and safely perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Sufficient vision and hearing to safely navigate the workspace.
Responsibilities
- Perform timely repairs and maintenance on Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units, including diesel-powered refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical issues on trailer reefer units.
- Complete preventive maintenance and service on air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Conduct DOT inspections and trailer repairs when reefer units are in working condition.
- Ensure vehicles and refrigeration units meet safety and compliance standards.
- Accurately document repairs and complete work orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support fleet operations.
