L3Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist Thermal Analyst to join its engineering organization. The role contributes to multidisciplinary engineering teams designing, analyzing, and testing optical systems for harsh space and ground environments. The position applies aerospace thermal engineering knowledge to spacecraft subsystems and payload architectures, including conductive, convective, and radiative analysis; heat pipes and radiative heat transfer; and thermal-control hardware such as thermal blankets, surface treatments, heater tapes, and thermistors. The work considers interactions with optical structures to minimize optical errors and achieve operational temperatures. Analysts use custom software, Thermal Desktop, and finite element analysis (FEA) packages, and may mentor other Thermal Analysts. The role supports system-level thermal design and development, payload integration and testing, and risk mitigation for space environments. Program work may include requirements derivation and verification, system architecture, loads derivation, trade studies, design sensitivity and optimization studies, design analyses, analysis documentation, and system test leadership. The analyst may lead thermal design and analysis as an integrated product team (IPT) lead, interface with customer technical leads and management, and present results at formal design reviews. The position also supports thermal test planning, new business opportunities, and mentoring junior staff. The employee must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance after hire. The job is located in Wilmington, Massachusetts, and follows a 9/80 schedule: 80 hours over nine workdays in each 14-day period, with every other Friday off. Relocation assistance is available to qualified applicants. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 may be included in an offer package for this level.
