About The Position

Riverside Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture with Select Medical, is hiring a per-diem Therapy Aide in Yorktown, Virginia. The hospital provides compassionate care for people facing brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas. The Therapy Aide performs patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist and supports therapy sessions through patient transfers, positioning, transport, and equipment preparation. The role includes an extensive orientation program and the possibility of advancement to a full-time opportunity. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified in BLS, or complete BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist.
• Lift patients to and from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs, and other facility or department equipment.
• Assist patients with transfers to all surfaces.
• Assist patients with donning and doffing appliances specific to the facility or department.
• Position patients in parallel bars and prepare them for standing with appropriate orthotic or prosthetic devices and equipment.
• Transport patients to and from therapy as needed.
• Assist therapists with other appropriate patient-related treatment activities and provide equipment.
• Set up equipment and position patients in preparation for therapy sessions as outlined in the State Practice.
