About The Position

Riverside Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture with Select Medical, is hiring a per-diem Therapy Aide in Yorktown, Virginia, at $17.00 per hour. The hospital provides care for people facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain and spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas. The Therapy Aide performs patient-related tasks assigned by therapists, helps prepare and position patients and equipment for therapy, and assists with transfers and transportation. The position offers an extensive orientation program and the potential for advancement to full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified in BLS, or complete BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment.

• One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist.
• Lift patients to and from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs, and other equipment appropriate to the facility or department.
• Assist patients with transfers to all surfaces.
• Assist patients with donning and doffing appliances specific to the facility or department.
• Position patients in parallel bars and prepare them to stand using appropriate orthotic or prosthetic devices and equipment.
• Transport patients to and from therapy as needed.
• Assist therapists with other appropriate patient-related treatment activities and provide equipment.
• Set up equipment and position patients in preparation for therapy sessions as outlined in the State Practice.
