About The Position

This role provides in-home counseling to new parents aiming to improve their lives and the lives of their children. The Healthy Families Therapist collaborates with the Pinellas County Health Department home visitor program to ensure coordinated care and promote healthy development for young children and the wellbeing of their parents. Suncoast Center has been providing emotional wellness services for over 80 years and fosters an environment where diversity and inclusion are prioritized. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited graduate school with a Master’s degree in clinical social work, clinical psychology, mental health counseling or related human service field.
  • Experience in using evidence-based therapeutic interventions with adults and families, knowledge regarding the effects of violence on children, and use of effective strategies for crisis intervention and prevention.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a negative drug screening prior to hire and throughout employment.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check, local checks, and DCF Level II Background Screening prior to hire and annually (must be in compliance with Florida Laws and Administrative Codes with fingerprinting and determined to be of good moral character).
  • Must have valid Florida Driver’s License and pass motor vehicle checks prior to hire and annually with acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment along with reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance.
  • Computer literate.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered intern pursuing licensure pursuant the provisions of Chapter 491, Florida Statutes as a social worker, mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist preferred.
  • Home visiting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling to new parents experiencing family stress, mental health concerns and trauma to decrease the likelihood of abuse or neglect.
  • Complete mental health and psychosocial assessments as part of the diagnostic evaluation.
  • Provide evidence-based mental health treatment to clients either in person or via telehealth.
  • Conduct intakes, treatment planning, and psychotherapy services to diverse populations.
  • Provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy, as needed.
  • Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide crisis intervention, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with agency and community partners for supervision, staffing, and team meetings.
  • Able to provide services in client homes, schools, and other community settings.
  • Develop and provide trainings to Healthy Department home visitors on working with high-risk families.
  • Complete all documentation in accordance with agency and funder standards.
  • Maintains a productivity level in accordance with agency standards.
  • Available up to 3 evenings per week Monday thru Friday.
  • Other duties as assigned.
