About The Position

Earlham College is seeking a Counselor (non-independent or independently licensed) to join our integrated Health and Counseling Center. We are looking for candidates who are interested in a multifaceted job including seeing individual clients, providing psychoeducation workshops, group therapy facilitation, and applying Motivational Interview and other brief modalities in creation of our Walk In Services. This role provides mental health services using a brief clinical intervention and psychoeducation model to the undergraduate and graduate students at Earlham. Clinical responsibilities to students include management of individual caseload, intakes, walk-in counseling, psychoeducation workshops and/or group counseling. Limited crisis intervention and case management duties may be required. The position also involves presenting educational training/workshops to students and administrative faculty, serving as a member of the division of Student Life, collaborating with teaching faculty and staff on student needs and problems, and participation in meetings, committees and college activities, programming and education. Additionally, the role requires documenting, organizing and managing client records in accordance with professional standards. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or PhD/PsyD in Psychology.
  • Non-independent or independently Licensed in Indiana, or ability to obtain license prior to hire date; provisionally licensed applicants will be considered.
  • Experience working in clinical outpatient settings, and/or multiple brief intervention settings.
  • Solid risk assessment skills and flexibility in counseling setting.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and standards of the NASW.

Nice To Haves

  • Independently licensed.
  • College counseling experience preferred- having a clear understanding of the role of residence life at a private liberal arts setting.
  • Previous experience in brief intervention modalities, comprehensive risk assessment, substance use disorders, and sexual assault/domestic violence concerns.
  • If applicable per licensure and experience level, provides supervision to non-independently licensed masters-level clinicians, and/or masters-level interns.
  • Ability to accommodate some evening and weekend hours.
