About The Position

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) is seeking a Summer Activity Camp: Theatre Instructor for the Ballard Community Center. This seasonal, part-time role is ideal for a theatre artist or educator with experience in youth programming and a background in theatre instruction or performance. ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, provides licensed childcare and recreational programs. The Theatre Instructor will guide participants in acting exercises, improvisation, character development, movement, and performance skills, aiming to build confidence, encourage creative expression, develop stage presence, and foster collaboration in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Experience in theatre, acting, directing, or performing arts.

Responsibilities

  • Create fun, engaging theatre lessons tailored to youth.
  • Lead daily activities including improv, character creation, and short scenes.
  • Prepare the classroom/stage area and reset it after each session.
  • Identify needed props, supplies, or simple costume pieces.
  • Maintain attendance and complete required reports.
