The Theater Manager LCT3/Claire Tow Theater plays a crucial role in the Company and House Management team, serving as the primary liaison between various theater departments and overseeing audience services to ensure an excellent customer experience. This position is integral to the smooth operation of productions and the front-of-house experience for patrons, staff, and artists.

Requirements

  • Must be a member in good standing of ATPAM.
  • Strong Excel and/or payroll computational skills required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Calm under pressure, professional, and tactful in challenging situations.
  • Must work evenings, weekends, and holidays in alignment with performance and production schedules.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Passion for theater and commitment to excellent audience service.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Company and House management experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Checks & Balances payroll system is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage company operations for all productions, workshops, and special events.
  • Assist with the processing of contracts, union paperwork (including but not limited to AEA, SDC, USA, Local One), and process weekly payroll.
  • Coordinate travel, housing, and per diem arrangements for visiting artists and creative teams.
  • Track and process reimbursements, petty cash, and company credit card expenses.
  • Maintain accurate company files, contact lists, and production schedules.
  • Serve as a point of contact for company members, addressing day-to-day questions or concerns with discretion and professionalism.
  • Greet and assist patrons, ensuring a positive and professional experience from arrival to departure.
  • Manage the lobby and theater space before, during, and after performances.
  • Resolve customer service issues or patron concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate late seating and manage house entrance procedures in collaboration with stage management.
  • Assist with merchandise sales, special events, and concessions (if applicable).
  • Monitor inventory of front-of-house supplies and request reorders as needed.
  • Train, schedule and supervise ushers, and other front-of-house personnel.
  • Ensure FOH staff are prepared for performance needs and emergency protocols.
  • Enforce fire code regulations and ADA accessibility accommodations.
  • Be the point of contact for any in-theater emergencies or evacuations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of public areas.
  • Communicate with box office, production, company, and stage management teams about show timing, seating holds, special accommodations, and audience issues.
  • Submit house reports detailing audience attendance, incidents, and front-of-house notes after each performance.
  • Assist in coordinating opening nights, company events, and production-related hospitality.
  • Communicate regularly with production and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations between departments.
  • Provide general administrative support to the General Management team as needed.

  • Paid in accordance with an ATPAM contract, above scale, for a period of 52 continuous weeks annually.
