About The Position

This position coordinates the complex assessment/exam process for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The coordinator administers the assessment and communication plan in collaboration with the School of Nursing (SON) faculty to adhere to published testing protocols in the undergraduate and graduate handbooks. The coordinator manages the use of electronic testing programs (ExamSoft and HESI), student exam accommodations, testing security measures, midterm and final exam testing schedules, and supports faculty in test deployment. The coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean for Instructional and Clinical Technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in Technology, Education, or related areas.
  • At least 2 years professional experience in supporting educational use of technology in the University setting and a variety educational applications and technology.
  • Excellent computer and technology skills: Windows/Mac, iPads, Microsoft Office; knowledge and use of computer examination software, experience researching and supporting technology solutions for teaching and learning.
  • Possesses highly developed analytical skills to make exam decisions with appropriate support.
  • Ability to review statistical testing data.
  • Excellent organizational and database skills.
  • Experienced at managing and prioritizing complex, multi-part tasks.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to plan, organize, and execute projects that require careful attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and additional hours to accommodate both early morning, evening, and weekend exams. Available by phone and email outside of regular work hours to quickly respond to exam issues.
  • Customer service skills and a strong service orientation; ability to quickly move between various campus building locations, ability to maintain composure during difficult situations, work under pressure with minimal breaks during busy exam weeks, and work with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Administrator for exam creation, management, and delivery. Utilizes analytic and decision-making skills to facilitate the exam process and to manage the assessment process for multiple programs.
  • Responsible for successful completion and upload of 25,000+ exam files annually from a wide variety of hardware devices, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Coordinates student exam process with faculty and Office of Technology. Manages test scheduling, analyzes and disseminates student testing schedules to students and faculty, oversees room reservations, and troubleshoots issues with HESI, ExamSoft, or other testing applications.
  • Manages schedule for midterm and final exams for students with accommodations and exam conflicts, collaborates with undergraduate department chair to finalize exam schedule, oversees room reservation for accommodation student exams, schedules and arranges for department faculty, staff, and GA proctors using SignUpGenius.
  • Upholds and executes SON testing standards and ensures policies are adhered to throughout the testing process, including collaborations with Elsevier and ExamSoft.
  • Assists all undergraduate and online nursing students throughout the exam process to ensure quality assessment processes with a variety of testing platforms. Collaborates directly with department chairs and faculty, Assistant Dean for Instructional and Clinical Technology, Associate Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, Office of Technology, and Office of Disability Services.
  • Collaborates with faculty to create and post exams in courses, assist with Canvas LMS quizzes, and maintains test bank of questions. Arranges for make-up exams due to excused medical reasons, athletics, or other exam conflicts. Works closely with faculty to manage make-up exam process for scheduling, room reservations, and exam delivery to meet course deadlines. The coordinator is also responsible for proctoring make-up exams.
  • Oversees exam file management for undergraduate and graduate programs and assures file upload completion for analysis and grade distribution.
  • Responsible for exam administrator role for the School of Nursing; checks exams for technical accuracy, posts exam files, imports roster and course information, regularly updates database according to active registration and corrects errors in system. Maintains accurate exam data in HESI and ExamSoft throughout assessment process: data import, account set-up, mock exam, exam creation, deployment, exam analysis, grade recording.
  • Follows policy and procedures for confidential student information.
  • Provides faculty and administrators with exam results and data summaries.
  • Manages Graduate Assistant (GA) proctoring staff and scheduling of GA staff. Works closely with nursing faculty and staff to schedule proctoring assignments. This position is required to proctor exams as needed.
  • Coordinates with Office of Disability Services and Office of Student and Alumni Affairs to oversee testing for nursing students with exam accommodations, arranges for proctors, creates separate room reservations that adhere to required accommodation, and maintains database and compliance issues as outlined in accommodation verification letters.
  • Maintains knowledge of advances in technology that could lead to academic integrity violations, implements strategies to maintain the integrity of assessment, oversees remote proctor usage in the online graduate program, reviews testing results for potential violations of academic integrity policy, and maintains proctor guidelines for addressing potential test security issues.
  • Provides training for new faculty on the process of test creation, assists faculty with tests, conducts faculty in-service training on successful test creation and delivery.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
