Test Manager

SiriusPoint•New York City, NY

About The Position

SiriusPoint is hiring a Test Manager for its Ceded Outwards Reinsurance Transformation team to drive technology implementation testing for its Global Ceded function. The role reports directly to the VP, Reinsurance Product lead, with a dotted line to the Business Product Owner, the Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance. It also has indirect reporting responsibilities to the Transformation and Change Director via the EPMO. The Test Manager will work with senior Ceded Reinsurance subject-matter experts, business stakeholders, data and enterprise architects, delivery teams, vendors, and project leadership. The role is accountable for overall testing strategy, planning, coordination, governance, execution oversight, defect management, and testing readiness across a complex transformation programme involving business processes, technology platforms, data, integrations, reporting, and third-party solutions. The Test Manager will be the primary coordination point for testing activities and will provide objective assessments of readiness ahead of implementation and production deployment. The position requires flexibility to work with US and UK time zones at least two days per week. Examples include an early start for EST collaboration or working until 7–8 p.m. for GMT collaboration. This is a contract position, with the posting indicating a day-rate range of approximately $950–$1,200 USD (1099-NEC) or £700–£850 outside IR35, while noting that other contracting options are possible.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end testing within complex technology, business, or transformation programmes, including test strategy, planning, execution, defect management, and UAT.
  • Strong understanding of system, integration, regression, end-to-end, data, and user acceptance testing across multiple systems, interfaces, and business processes.
  • Experience managing test dependencies involving environments, data, integrations, releases, and third-party solutions.
  • Strong planning, organisation, risk-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities, resources, and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate business, technology, vendor, and subject-matter teams across geographies and time zones without direct reporting authority.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to communicate complex testing issues, status, and risks to working and executive-level audiences.
  • Strong attention to documentation, evidence, controls, governance, and delivery accountability, and confidence to challenge insufficient test coverage and escalate issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, computer science, engineering, systems analysis, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Working knowledge of insurance operations, including policy administration, underwriting, claims, financial reporting, compliance, and risk management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services, particularly testing financial, accounting, reconciliation, data, or reporting processes.
  • Experience supporting large-scale system implementations with third-party technology vendors or implementation partners.
  • Familiarity with test-management and defect-tracking tools.
  • Experience with SICS or other accounting platforms.
  • Ability to write basic SQL queries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute the program test strategy and master test plan, including scope, objectives, phases, criteria, timelines, dependencies, and governance.
  • Coordinate system, integration, regression, user acceptance, data validation, operational readiness, end-to-end, and performance testing, aligning milestones with the wider implementation plan.
  • Identify testing resource requirements and coordinate availability across business and technology teams.
  • Identify and proactively manage testing risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
  • Lead development and review of test scenarios, test cases, expected results, and supporting documentation; maintain traceability between requirements and test coverage.
  • Ensure coverage of end-to-end business processes, integrations, data flows, reporting, controls, exception scenarios, and downstream impacts.
  • Coordinate test data requirements and environment readiness, and establish and monitor readiness criteria before testing phases begin.
  • Lead day-to-day testing execution across business users, technology teams, vendors, and subject-matter experts; monitor progress against plans and milestones, including completion, pass/fail status, retesting, and evidence.
  • Establish and manage the defect management and triage process, including severity, priority, ownership, escalation, and closure criteria.
  • Facilitate defect-triage sessions and monitor defects through remediation, retesting, and closure; escalate critical or aging defects and communicate residual defects and implementation risks.
  • Coordinate UAT across business functions, partnering with business leads and subject-matter experts to ensure appropriate coverage and that testers understand objectives, responsibilities, schedules, and evidence requirements.
  • Monitor UAT execution and outstanding issue resolution, and coordinate testing completion, acceptance, and formal sign-off.
  • Report testing progress and readiness to project and program leadership; develop dashboards covering execution, pass/fail rates, defects, risks, dependencies, and outstanding decisions.
  • Maintain comprehensive testing documentation and evidence, and escalate resource, environment, data, dependency, or delivery issues affecting testing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior management, vendors, internal SMEs, and external partners, using IT implementation experience to support collaboration.
