Test Engineering Co-op (Summer/Fall 2027)
About The Position

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session running from May/June to December, requiring students to take a semester off from coursework to fully engage in this working mentorship opportunity. As a Test Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace, you will support test setup, execution, and general technical operations across all onsite programs. You will work as part of an engineering team in developing, testing, and qualifying various aircraft escape systems and components. This role involves setting up and operating high-speed cameras to capture test events, supporting the safe handling and setup of energetic propulsion devices, and collaborating with engineers on building and preparing test fixtures and articles.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in test environments
- Experience with energetic materials or aerospace testing
- Experience with high-speed video systems such as Ametek Phantom or data acquisition systems such as DTS, Dewesoft, etc.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams
- Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
Responsibilities
- Work as part of an engineering team in developing, testing, and qualifying various aircraft escape systems and components.
- Set up and operate high‑speed cameras (Ametek Phantom and others) to capture test events, including fixed‑position and tracking applications.
- Support safe handling and setup of energetic propulsion devices such as HVAR rocket motors and small explosive initiators under guidance from staff.
- Collaborate with engineers on building, modifying, and preparing test fixtures and test articles based on program requirements.
