Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). As a Test Equipment Mechanical Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace, you will: Document fluid schematics and specifications to construct, relocate, and install test stands, test equipment, and facilities infrastructure. Contribute to teams designing mechanical test equipment, components, and systems for MPC (Mechanical Power Conversion) power generation, transmission, and distribution products. Participate in peer reviews of specifications, designs, and concepts for test equipment, components, and systems. Track orders, costs, and due dates to update budgets and spending profiles. Conduct/Coordinate/Participate in Project Status reviews with team and other stakeholders Work independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team ensuring work is completed on-time, within quality standards, per specifications and contracts, and within budget constraints. Support test equipment estimation activities including test stand/equipment costs and schedules. Development and documentation of performance, design, calibration, and maintenance requirements for test stands. Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 45 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or coursework in mechanical engineering concepts
  • Data acquisition and control hardware and software
  • Mechanical rotating equipment (motors, gearboxes, or equivalent)
  • Experience with hydraulic and fluid circuits
  • Use of drafting tools such as AutoCAD, NX, or equivalent
