About The Position

Summit TRC is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to help maintain and test new products for unmanned aerial system (UAS) platforms. The role involves software and hardware testing of complex drone platform components, test planning and execution, software quality and security activities, and collaboration with engineering teams and technical stakeholders. The position is performed onsite in Huntsville, Alabama. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and possess an active Secret or higher security clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Active security clearance; the posting also specifies U.S. citizenship and a Secret or higher clearance.
Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems and executing commands in the command-line interface.
Understanding of virtualization tools and hypervisors.
Understanding of scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
Ability to work with external customers or stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
Ability to identify a problem and find a solution.

Responsibilities

Perform software and hardware testing of components of complex drone platforms.
Coordinate and direct engineering activities related to developing necessary test tools and methods.
Determine test conditions and sequences and phases of test operations, including test planning.
Direct and control the operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.
Perform levels of software testing and code scanning to ensure quality and reliability across the software lifecycle.
Use the Linux command line extensively for testing, automation, and data handling.
Collaborate with engineering teams and technical stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, resolve testing problems, and ensure continuity of support and development.
Collect and summarize test data to report on system verification and validation activities.
Optimize system performance and security.
Maintain excellent technical documentation hygiene.
Maintain cybersecurity best practices.
