Test Engineer

Texas Instruments•Knoxville, TN

About The Position

This role develops and optimizes semiconductor test solutions for advanced battery-charging products, including highly integrated power-management devices, high-current charging solutions, and chargers with integrated power FETs. The Test Engineer works with design, validation, product, and manufacturing teams to create robust, cost-effective Automated Test Equipment (ATE) solutions that ensure product quality, reliability, and performance. The work supports new products from initial silicon evaluation through high-volume manufacturing and contributes to time-to-market, product reliability, and consistent performance across applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience with integrated power-management devices.
  • ATE experience with Teradyne Eagle or equivalent analog ATE.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electronic devices, circuits, and analog test techniques.
  • Data-analysis skills using Spotfire, dataPower, or an equivalent tool based on STDF.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Strong time-management skills to enable on-time project delivery.
  • Ability to build strong, influential relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and drive for results.

Nice To Haves

  • ATE experience with Teradyne Eagle or equivalent analog ATE (iFlex, LTX, VLCT); Eagle experience is preferred and is a differentiator.
  • Characterization test-program and hardware development experience.
  • Production test-program and hardware development experience.
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, sourcemeters, and loads.
  • Experience with product engineering activities such as yield improvement and test-time reduction.
  • Strong understanding of the IC product-development process, from concept through volume production.
  • Mixed-signal test techniques and experience developing mixed-signal tests on TI roadmap testers.
  • Experience with test-program and hardware offload to TI offshore manufacturing sites.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting with C++, Python, or C#.
  • LabVIEW or TestStand experience.
  • Experience with revision-control tools such as Subversion or Git.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the design team to understand design specifications.
  • Generate test plans and create test and characterization programs.
  • Design ATE hardware interface boards.
  • Debug and characterize silicon on ATE and correlate results with bench data.
  • Analyze silicon results and support failure-analysis tasks.
  • Perform statistical analysis of yield fallout, debug and resolve yield issues, and optimize test time.
  • Work with the production team to release products to volume production.
  • Define and implement test strategies for new battery-charging products.
  • Develop ATE test hardware and software.
  • Conduct silicon qualification and characterization, including qualification hardware development.
  • Perform comprehensive device debugging, design validation, and failure analysis.
  • Drive robust, cost-effective test solutions while maintaining accountability for product quality.
