About The Position

Accountable is a virtual support service for substance use recovery and sobriety. Members are matched with a certified peer recovery coach and supported by daily breathalyzer monitoring, remote drug testing, and recovery groups. The company was founded by people in recovery and has served over 10,000 members, with expanding coverage across payer segments. This role is the company's representative in a specific territory, responsible for building trust and generating referrals from clinicians, discharge planners, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Live in the territory.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • 2+ years of outside sales, community outreach, admissions, or business development experience.
  • Ability to speak the language of the treatment world (detox, residential, PHP, IOP, outpatient, MAT, sober living) and understand where recovery support fits.
  • Understanding of how people pay for and access care (private pay, commercial insurance, Medicare) to answer cost-related questions.
  • Experience with cold outreach, including building lists, knocking on doors, and turning cold contacts into relationships.
  • Proven track record of meeting sales numbers.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with both clinical directors and parents.
  • Disciplined about CRM usage and same-day logging.

Responsibilities

  • Build and work a territory plan covering the market's referral sources.
  • Be in the field 4–5 days a week, conducting 15–20 meetings per week once ramped.
  • Sell consultatively, understanding referrer needs before pitching and being honest about when Accountable is not the right fit.
  • Call on treatment providers including residential programs, detoxes, PHP/IOPs, sober livings, and their associated staff (discharge planners, case managers, alumni coordinators).
  • Call on clinical providers such as therapists, addiction medicine and psychiatry practices, primary care, and hospital social workers.
  • Call on community partners including drug courts, interventionists, DUI and family law attorneys, EAPs, and recovery community organizations.
  • Run in-services and lunch-and-learns.
  • Attend coalition meetings, recovery events, and conferences.
  • Activate new accounts and maintain existing ones, aiming for at least quarterly referrals from each active account.
  • Close the loop with every referrer after each interaction.
  • Log all activity in the CRM on the same day.
  • Work within Accountable's compliance standards in all referral relationships.
