About The Position

Auer Steel & Heating Supply Co., a wholesale distributor of HVAC equipment and supplies since 1940, is seeking a Territory Manager - Outside Sales to cover the Northeast Minnesota market, including Duluth, Grand Rapids, International Falls, and surrounding areas, as well as Douglas and Bayfield counties in Wisconsin. This role offers a great opportunity to grow in an HVAC career within a well-established company. The primary purpose of this position is to increase sales by understanding customer needs and presenting Auer Steel's residential and light commercial HVAC products, programs, and solutions to ensure customer success. The Territory Manager must effectively communicate detailed information about the company's offerings. This position is ideal for an energetic, dependable, and self-driven individual.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and use business software and various office equipment, including computers and tablets.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license with an acceptable rating.
  • Must reside within the assigned territory.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • At least one year of HVAC sales or product application experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments and meet with existing customers to review products and programs and identify new opportunities.
  • Plan, perform, and report on physical sales calls to customers regularly.
  • Present professional demonstrations of company products, programs, and services on-site.
  • Liaise between the company and customers regarding pricing, services, and new product releases.
  • Generate and develop new accounts through cold calling to increase revenue.
  • Continuously update customers on product, program, and service modifications, changes, and enhancements.
  • Enhance personal knowledge of new products, procedures, services, and tools by attending departmental sales meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to represent the company positively.
  • Attend conferences and trade shows.
  • Utilize marketing data and sales management tools to maximize sales effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Organize and attend joint sales calls with vendors.
  • Prepare sales planning and call reports for sales and marketing departments and maintain expense accounts.
  • Update and maintain customer data, including contact names and numbers.
  • Provide product quotes to customers as needed.
  • Ensure follow-up on customer requests, whether handled personally or by passing needs to others, to confirm completion.
