About The Position

The Tennessean is seeking a Tennessee Titans reporter to produce high-value storytelling, including context and analysis, entertaining features, and investigative pieces. Breaking news and developing strong sources are critical parts of the role. The reporter will create content across available formats, including social media, podcasts, video, television, and online platforms.

The position is part of the USA TODAY Network’s South Region, which collaborates across high school, college, and professional sports markets. Coverage will focus primarily on the Tennessee Titans, with additional support for major events such as NASCAR and NCAA events. The reporter will use social and messaging platforms to gather news, respond quickly to breaking developments and trending topics, and optimize coverage for target audiences using SEO and metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of professional journalism experience.
• An entrepreneurial approach to growing an audience and building a dedicated following.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to take photos and record video or audio in the field.
• Solid news judgment guided by experience with audience metrics.
• Strong understanding of journalism ethics and the basics of media law.
• Commitment to reporting with fairness, compassion, and sensitivity.
• Command of the USA TODAY style guide and dedication to accuracy.

• Experience on a major beat is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce storytelling in multiple formats, including social media, podcasts, video, television, and online.
