About The Position

Jr. Coordinator, Capital Projects must always represent CHC’s interests and do so in a professional manner. Working under the direction of the Senior Manager, Projects or designate, the Jr. Coordinator, Capital Projects will assist in managing restoration and renovation projects of CHC owned housing stock.

Requirements

  • Three (3) year Advanced Diploma or University Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 0 to 1 yr. experience in a project management/ construction involvement or similar field.
  • Ability to interpret all building component drawings e.g., electrical, mechanical, structural drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply standard documents affecting projects, including contracts, project charters, surveys, construction, and other technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions that have a direct impact on project success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated initiative that improves service or business results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Project.
  • Able to travel to visit sites, as needed; possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s Class “G” License, current valid insurance, and the use of a personal vehicle for work purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with design codes, design standards, and specification requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply them to specific project scopes, considered an asset.
  • Formal training in project management and/or demonstrated use of project management skills, considered an asset.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities and working to deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in timely delivery and management of assigned projects to ensure all projects are on budget and completed in accordance with accepted standards and CHC policies, within specifications and within applicable regulatory, accreditation and municipal requirements; ensure latest applicable codes, by-laws and legislative requirements are met.
  • Provide support for projects; help manage administrative documentation, including but not limited to change orders, payment requests, invoice review, end of project report and lessons learned evaluation.
  • Perform site visits as directed throughout the project implementation process to assist in ensuring project compliance with the scope and schedule set forth in contract documents and assist in performing measurement and Verification activities.
  • Assist in ensuring the quality management plan is properly implemented and followed by all required suppliers, including consultants and contractors; follow up with contractors to ensure all quality plan deliverables are completed and all non-conformance is addressed in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate, as directed, consultant and contractor site visits and walk-throughs with relevant internal staff.
  • Assist in preparing public tender documentation as assigned, including specifications, drawings, general conditions, and various appendices, in accordance with accepted standards and CHC policies.
  • As directed, perform research and technology reviews on equipment, techniques, automation etc. that will benefit CHC Deep Energy Retrofit Projects or other CHC buildings.
  • Work collaboratively with administrative staff, and assist with supervision of engineering and other students, as assigned.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining project safety culture.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned from time to time.
