About The Position

The School of Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, nurse applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments. CSUDH is seeking applications from nurse candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the University's mission, vision, and core values. The temporary nurse faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Requirements

  • A Master degree in Nursing.
  • Appropriate experience related to the subject of the course(s) assigned.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching adult learners from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level with furnished evidence of strong teaching.
  • A Doctoral degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • Experience teaching online.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned online or hybrid undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral courses in the department’s nursing curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
  • Engage in activities to maintain currency in the field such as clinical practice, coursework, conference attendance, and continuing education classes.
  • Participate in assessment of program learning outcomes and ongoing improvement of instruction to support student learning outcomes.
  • Clinical instructors have additional responsibilities related to the clinical site, student compliance with clinical agency requirements, oversight of the student, and communication with the preceptors.
  • Select clinical courses require faculty to be on-site at the clinical facility with the students.
