About The Position

Columbia College Chicago is an acclaimed undergraduate and graduate institution that provides a comprehensive education in the arts, communications, and public relations. We are in the heart of Chicago, across the street from historic Grant Park, and housed in some of the most iconic buildings in the South Loop. Columbia College Chicago is a private urban institution of approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative and media arts and business is currently searching for a(an) ADJUNCT FACULTY. In addition to its regular, full-time faculty, Columbia College Chicago hires scholars, creative professionals and other industry-experienced Adjunct Faculty to teach courses on a part-time basis. Positions are not available every semester and are contingent upon student enrollment and the availability of funding.

Requirements

Possess a degree at least one level above the level at which they teach, with a terminal degree in the relevant discipline as the preferred credential. In terminal degree programs, faculty members will possess the same level of degree.
Demonstrated currency in a specialized discipline and a sustained history of distinguished professional work, compelling creative achievements, or other significant experience in the relevant field may be considered as an alternative to the required degree (in occasional cases for non-general education courses).

Responsibilities

Teach courses on a part-time basis in the School of Communication and Culture, which offers courses in Journalism and Communication, and Creative Writing BA programs as well as in US and global culture, literature, and history, with particular emphases in African American Studies, Black World Studies, Latine Studies, and Feminist, Gender, and LGBTQAI+ Studies. Also supports the first-year writing curriculum and provides courses in American Sign Language, Philosophy, Podcasting, Psychology, Audio Narrative, and Voiceover.
