About The Position

The Department of Communications at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is seeking applications for a pool of part-time teaching appointments in their Journalism Program. Requirements

• A Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
• Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
• Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check).
• Mandated reporter status under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083.

Nice To Haves

• A Master’s degree in Journalism or related discipline.
• Prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
• Extensive professional experience in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
• A Ph.D. or M.A. in Journalism or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).
• Ability to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery modalities.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum.
• Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
• Teach assigned upper and/or lower division courses in the major degree programs and in the department’s shared curriculum.
• Hold one office hour per week per class.
• Be able to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery modalities.
