About The Position

The Department of Communications at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a pool of part-time teaching appointments in Advertising/Public Relations. CSUDH values diversity and seeks candidates with experience teaching and working with diverse populations. The Advertising/Public Relations program focuses on developing students' understanding of the role and impact of advertising and public relations in various organizations, preparing them to be ethical, innovative, and critical-thinking professionals. The program emphasizes persuasive messaging, research, analytical tools, cultural aspects, and ethical considerations in AD/PR practices.

Requirements

A Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check).
Mandated reporter status under CANRA and compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083.

Nice To Haves

A Master’s degree in Advertising, Public Relations, Strategic Communications or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
Extensive professional experience in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Advertising, Public Relations, Strategic Communications or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).
Ability to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery modalities.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum.
Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
Teach assigned upper and/or lower division courses in the major degree programs and in the department’s shared curriculum.
Hold one office hour per week per class.
Be able to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery modalities.
