About The Position

The Department of Communications at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is seeking applications for a pool of part-time teaching appointments in Film, Television, and Media (FTVM). CSUDH values diversity and seeks candidates with experience teaching and working with diverse populations. The FTVM B.A. program focuses on integrating critical thinking and critical making, preparing students to adapt to a changing media landscape and use their creative voices to impact society. The program aims to cultivate diverse creative voices by providing students with an understanding of media histories, forms, contexts, and structures, empowering them to tell new and necessary stories that represent their communities and transform society.

Requirements

A Master’s degree in Film, Television and/or Media Studies or related discipline.
Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check).

Nice To Haves

A Ph.D., M.A. or M.F.A. in Film, Television and/or Media Studies or related discipline.
Prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).
Ability to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery modalities.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned lower and/or upper division courses in Film, Television, and Media.
Courses may include: Introduction to Film; Introduction to Media Criticism; Genre Analysis; Media and Representation; Media Industries, Film History; Television History; Emerging Media History; Media Audiences; Global Media; Screenwriting; Writing for Series TV; Emerging Media Writing; and Creative Producing.
Hold one office hour per week per course.
Be able to teach Face-to-Face, Hybrid, and Online delivery modalities.
