About The Position

This is a temporary 1.0 FTE position for a Communications and Media Teacher at Oregon City High School, responsible for teaching students various aspects of video and audio production. The role involves instructing students on the use of professional equipment, editing software, and facilitating team-based production environments. The teacher will develop and manage studio and live productions, troubleshoot technical issues, and integrate real-world projects and industry partners into the curriculum. This position is for the remainder of the 2026-27 school year.

Requirements

• CTE Licensure and Experience in Video Production: Camera operation, cinematography, composition, framing, lenses, exposure, frame rates, white balance, camera movement, and multi-camera production.
• CTE Licensure and Experience in Audio Production: Microphones, XLR/audio connections, audio mixers, gain staging, monitoring, sound recording, interview audio, voice-over, and basic audio mixing.
• CTE Licensure and Experience in Lighting: Three-point lighting, LED lighting, color temperature, diffusion, reflectors, studio lighting, location lighting, and green-screen lighting.
• CTE Licensure and Experience in Post-Production: Nonlinear editing, color correction, audio editing, titles, graphics, transitions, captions, green-screen/keying, exporting, compression, and media management.
• CTE Licensure and Experience in Studio & Live Production: Multi-camera production, video switching, studio workflows, teleprompters, live audio, graphics, streaming, signal flow, and basic broadcast production.
• CTE Licensure and Experience in Equipment & Safety: Proper operation, care, storage, inventory, troubleshooting, and safe use of cameras, lighting, audio, electrical, and production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Teach students to operate professional cameras, audio equipment, lighting systems, and production accessories.
• Teach and model professional video editing workflows using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Facilitate team-based production environments where students rotate through roles such as producer, director, camera operator, audio technician, editor, graphics designer, and production assistant.
• Develop and manage studio, live-event, and multi-camera productions.
• Troubleshoot common technical issues involving cameras, audio, lighting, computers, software, cables, media, and video signals.
• Incorporate real-world clients, school/community projects, industry partners, and authentic production experiences into instruction.
