About The Position
The Department of Art and Design at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) offers three distinct B.A. degrees in Art, Art History, and Design. This application is for a temporary pool of part-time teaching appointments in Studio Art instruction. CSUDH values diversity and seeks candidates with experience teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Art and Design Department provides a rich arts education, preparing students for professional and post-graduate work through rigorous, cross-disciplinary programs. The B.A. in Art focuses on creative exploration using new technologies and traditional media. The B.A. in Art History emphasizes critical thinking and visual literacy. The B.A. in Design prepares students for the professional industry through internships and covers areas like print, web, UI/UX, illustration, photography, and motion design.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- Experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check).
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Evidence of strong teaching.
- A Master’s degree in Art for the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned upper division courses in the department’s curriculum.
- Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
