About The Position
The Department of Art and Design at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is seeking applications for a temporary pool of part-time teaching appointments in Art History. CSUDH is committed to celebrating and respecting diversity and seeks candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Art and Design Department offers three distinct B.A. degrees (Art, Art History, and Design) and various minors, leveraging its location in Los Angeles to provide rigorous, cross-disciplinary programs that prepare students for professional and post-graduate work. The Art History program focuses on exploration, critical thinking, and visual literacy, encouraging research into art from various eras and cultures.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- Experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check).
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
- A Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
- A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division Art History courses (300- or 400-level).
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum.
- Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
