About The Position

East Tennessee State University’s (ETSU) Quillen College of Medicine is seeking current medical students to join our academic support team as peer tutors. This position will involve working closely with other medical school students to support the content knowledge development and study habit development. Subject matter experts are most often needed in Anatomy, Foundations of Medical Knowledge, Immunology/Hematology, and Cardio/ Pulmonology/Renal. Both individual and group tutor positions are available.

Requirements

Must be a rising M2-M4 QCOM student
An equivalent to a B+ or higher in the subjects you would like to tutor
Overall strong academic performance
Strong grasp of material and ability to connect basic science with clinical reasoning.
Ability to clearly explain complex concepts, adapt to learning styles, and provide constructive feedback.
Ability to maintain professionalism, build trust, recognize stress, and support effective study strategies.

Responsibilities

Support the content knowledge development and study habit development of other medical school students.
Serve as a subject matter expert in areas such as Anatomy, Foundations of Medical Knowledge, Immunology/Hematology, and Cardio/ Pulmonology/Renal.
Provide individual and group tutoring sessions.
Check email frequently and respond promptly to ensure timely communication, scheduling, and follow-through with students and faculty.
