About The Position

The Temporary Accounts Payable Accountant is a detail-oriented role focused heavily on accurate, high-volume data entry and the processing of financial information. The position requires following established procedures, managing multiple responsibilities, and maintaining confidentiality of financial information. The ideal candidate has prior accounting experience, understands debits and credits, and has strong organizational and time-management skills.

The role is part-time, 20 hours per week across 4–5 days per week, in Alton, Illinois. The assignment is expected to last six months or longer, with potential for extension or longer-term employment based on business needs and performance. Pay is $19.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous accounts payable or accounting experience required.
• Strong understanding of debits and credits.
• Excellent data entry and computer skills.
• Strong time-management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to retain information and quickly learn company processes.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Must successfully pass a seven-year background check.

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-volume data entry accurately.
• Process accounts payable invoices and transactions.
• Record and reconcile debits and credits.
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy.

• Assist with account reconciliations and general ledger activities.
• Support the accounting team with accounting and administrative tasks.
