About The Position

The Department of Teacher Education, Educational Leadership, and Policy (TEELP) at the UNM College of Education and Human Sciences is seeking candidates for temporary, part time faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. The UNM College of Education and Human Sciences, comprised of five academic departments, is a future-oriented, dynamic professional school organized to reflect the following values: Advocacy, Building Professional Identities, Collaboration, building strong School/University Partnerships, Diversity & Social Justice, Interdisciplinary Inquiry/Scholarship, and Teaching, Learning and Leadership. We are recruiting for Part-Time Instructors in the following areas: Mathematics Education, Science Education, Reading/Literacy/English Language Arts, Social Studies Education, Educational Technology, and general education courses. These part time instructors are expected to teach undergraduates and graduates in Elementary and/or Secondary licensure programs, particularly focused on supporting teacher candidates in learning from their field experience in order to build competence, care, cultural responsiveness, self-reflection, collegiality and evidence-based assessment. The instructors may be teaching online sections of these courses. This faculty member will be expected to participate in enhancing the coherence and effectiveness of the teacher preparation programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education or directly related field if applying to teach undergraduate level courses.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching (grades K-12) in public schools in the U.S.
  • Endorsement/License in Reading, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies

Nice To Haves

  • Potential to teach online or certification or experience in online teaching.
  • Potential to teach or demonstrated ability to teach at the college level.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in doctorate in Education or closely related field.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Teacher Education.
  • Support teacher candidates in learning from their field experience.
  • Build competence, care, cultural responsiveness, self-reflection, collegiality and evidence-based assessment in teacher candidates.
  • Teach online sections of courses, if applicable.
  • Participate in enhancing the coherence and effectiveness of the teacher preparation programs.
