About The Position

The UNM Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences is seeking to hire a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member to teach one or more of the following subject areas for Spring 2027/Summer 2027/Fall 2027. Instruction will be delivered face-to-face and online. The available subject areas are PSYC (Psychology) and SOCI (Sociology). The base salary ranges from $1,157.97 to $1,240.17 per credit hour, depending on the candidate's qualifications. A list of potential courses includes Introduction to Psychology, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Brain and Behavior, Psychology of Learning and Memory, Psychology of Human Sexuality, Introduction to Sociology, Dynamics of Prejudice, and Sociology of Deviance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the discipline or subfield in which they are applying to teach.
  • Completed a program of study in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed (e.g., completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree).
  • CV
  • Cover Letter (Please include what specific course(s) you are interested in teaching in).
  • Unofficial graduate level transcripts will be accepted with application but official graduate level transcripts will be needed if selected for hire.
  • Official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to their initial employment with UNM.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly community college experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in remote delivery of instruction.
  • Successful experience in practice or field work (if applicable).
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understand of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
